The Decoding System Measure Earns Patent Protection!

The Decoding Measure was granted a utility patent in March of 2021 for matching children to texts based on the decoding demands of texts. This is exciting news because it means that all children can now be matched to books that contain an optimal mix of letter-sounds (or GPCS: grapheme-phoneme correspondences) exactly for them. It also allows for specific child-to-text matching based on their scope and sequence. For shortcomings of existing measure see our paper. The Decoding System Measure takes precision learning to a whole new level! Stay tuned as we take this exciting technology and develop useful tools for parents, te

achers, and other practitioners!
